Daniel's Interview on Phoenix Radio Shine FM Our guest today - Daniel Rodriguez, who was so inspirational especially for New York city. We'll find out a little bit of what he's doing. He's not with the Police dept. now, as God has blessed him to take his ministry of music around the world. Daniel: I'm down in Florida right now. I recently bought a little house for my mom. I made sure it was big enough so I could have a room, a place to stay so I can get out and do a little fishing, have a little R and R. Host: We watched him at the Yankee baseball games, and when Mayor Guiliani used him to sing, and through people like Dan, brought inspiration even in the darkest times and reminded us that God was still there. Tell us a little bit about your beginnings. Daniel: I started singing at 12, and when was quite young I started family and had to leave music. I did odd jobs, anything to support my family. My life has always been guided by faith, it not always easy to follow, and I've have gotten off track many times, but when I came back, God was always there for me. He guides my life. He has given the blessing of a voice, but has also given me the opportunity to share my gift. Host: Go through what happened in your life at the time of 9-11. Daniel: (Reviews that day)I was driving to work and I saw what looked like ashes in the sky. So I got into the back of a caravan, by the time I got there, the second plane had hit, I met my inspector, and headed towards building 2. I looked up and I saw the tower start to lean, (talked more of the World Trade Center collapse)..after that I rededicated my passions and the way of my life.. I'm a different person today. I lost my best friend, Glen Pettit.. sang at his funeral and so many others. I realized it was my purpose in being there, coming to a place that I realized that God had brought me here for his purpose.. Host: (asked about how that experience changed his life and what lessons he took) Daniel: (Talked about how one of the greatest gifts we have is each other) God gives us each other to comfort. He helps us to try and make sense of the tragedy. During those awful times, people gave food, clothing, people came from all over, to be a part of that effort to help. Our country was been united as I'd never seen before. That unity was very important.. a glimpse of what is possible when people gather together in faith.. God showing us what is possible..and is out there for us everyday, to live our lives in a spiritual way. we have the free will .. God has nothing to do with those tragedy's, but he gives us the tools to get through those times. Being a trained opera singer, and a police officer, people took notice, it was very interesting.. I was getting phone calls to do high profile events for the police dept. They recognized I was meant for other things. They knew I had a spiritual background.. Host: God used you to perhaps inspire others to turn their life to a more spiritual way? Where is God taking you today.. what's in the future.. Daniel: (Talked about his upcoming international tour) It's called "The Amazing Grace tour." I will be singing songs from Album and working with Marla Kavanaugh in New Zealand and then a return to Germany, Netherlands, adding Paris to the cities we did last year. (Talked about his albums) Hoping to do another Christian album soon, working on that now for future release. (Talked about his work for several charities) One of my charities, I'll be doing a concert in Sept. for the USO, working with a young tenor Michael Amante. Host: What is the message that you think God is really trying to give to America Daniel: (Talked about people being there for each other) ...realizing we are such a wonderful gift for each other.. to work to make this world a better place.. We each have a gift, whether it be compassion, to be a listening ear, to love each other, love and cherish God. Then the Host mentions Dan's singing for the Yankees and if we would be seeing him there again soon. Daniel: I sang at a opponent's game and, unfortunately they haven't called me in a while. Daniel: (reminded the audience of how to find his web site to learn more about what he will be doing) by going to "TheSingingPoliceman.com" Host: God bless you for your testimony and stay in touch with us.
